About

My name is Julia and I am 28.
I live in Sydney, Australia, with my cat Fizzgig, aka The Wuz. Officially she’s an Exotic Shorthair, but there’s actually some possum and a bit of seal in the mix too. She’s one of the funniest people I know.
I work in the media industry in no capacity you would have ever heard about. On the side, I review TV and the occasional gig.
I wear a lot of black, for no other reason than I dig it.
I love photography, looking at it, buying it, doing it. Currently I shoot with a Canon EOS 500D and it’s love.
I am obsessed with books and my favourite authors include: Dr Hunter S Thompson, The Hitch, Margaret Atwood, Lily Brett, Martin Amis, Saul Bellow, Norman Mailer, Truman Capote and Helen Garner. If I could list two books that changed my life, they would be The Treatment and The Cure by Peter Kocan and The Handmaid’s Tale, by Margaret Atwood. Once upon a time, I wrote a thesis on feminist science fiction. I count it as one of the best years of my life. Ok, it took me over a year, so sue me.
Musically I worship at the altars of the Melvins, PJ Harvey, Why? and a little hippity hop group called Atmosphere.
The two most awe-inspiring gigs I’ve been to were Laurie Anderson in 2010 and Swans in 2011.
I am intensely attracted to the absurd and I have a nephew called Vincent, who I intend to teach all of this to.
